aPRO, an abbreviation of annular PRO, is derived from Akribio's well-accepted product PRO7 (7-Channel Parallel Reaction Optimizer). Particularly designed for chemical library development, this derivative is a bench-top instrument in a compact 16"x19" footprint. aPRO features:
- 2 independent isothermal chambers hold the temperature at any point between -10° to 165°C with rate-controlled heat- and cool-ramping capabilities up to 5 thermal stages for 40 hours;
- computer operated temperature control and recording;
- interchangeable blocks for various sizes of vials or tubes, 4~40 mL;
- independent speed and direction controlled magnetic stirring for 2 trays, each holding up to 16 vials or tubes;
- automatic digital documentation capabilities;
- accessibility via the Internet for remote monitoring.
Moreover, Akribio delivers each unit of aPRO and associated pictorial-interface software, aPRO-PIN, according to user-defined configuration and specifications. For example, a user can specify the preferred sequence, layer and layout of the interface, and Akribio will modify both the interface software and the firmware of instrument accordingly to meet those needs.
aPRO Specifications
aPRO can simultaneously and autonomously conducts 2 sets of reactions under entirely different conditions according to user specified procedures
- In each set,16 reactions are conducted in the same isothermal environment with the same stirring speed; in total, up to 32 reactions can be conducted simultaneously.
- The temperature in the 2 independent chambers can be held and ramped with specified rates from -10° to 165°C for 40 hours. Moreover, the temperature in each chamber can be set in (up to) 5 stages.
- Each chamber provides even magnetic stirring generating consistent or periodically alternated clockwise and counter-clockwise whirlpools.
- Each chamber contains an interchangeable block to hold 16 vials.
2 independent built-in controllers are able to communicate with PC
- Each consists of a CPU, a set of memory chips, and a thermo-sensor.
- Each controller records time-temperature data in real-time.
- All data is saved in memory chips and is sustained during accidental power failure; controllers will automatically restart to finish reactions as soon as power returns
- User can login any of these controllers via a PC and wireless, blue-tooth connection.
- Each controller can download and upload data from and to PC
- User can monitor the ongoing reactions off site & to transmit data via PC and network.
Automatic digital documentation
- aPRO-PIN, aPRO's accompanying proprietary software, is able to automatically generate laboratory notes. Lab notes include operation log chart in time-sequence, time-temperature data, data of reagent, reactant and solvent in use, product, reaction route, and related project information
- Lab notes can be exported to Microsoft Word and Excel as well as read-only PDF formats
Module-based pictorial-interface software (aPRO-PIN)
- Module-based design ensures quick-run modifications and is developed to reflect the user's inputs. For example, user can specify the preferred sequence, layer, and layout; the software and firmware will be modified to meet those needs.
- Peripherals such as barcode reader can also be integrated with aPRO-PIN.
- Format of lab notes can be user-defined to be compatible with other systems, e.g. lab inventory system.
